MONSTER BJJ

Let Jiu Jitsu change your life!

WHO WE ARE

The mission of Monster BJJ is for every student to reach his or her highest potential through the Martial Art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Whether your goals are fitness, self-confidence, anti-bullying, self-defense, competition, or any other personal goal in-between, we have the knowledge and expertise to help you reach and surpass your personal goals. We welcome anyone of any age or fitness level to join us to experience the many benefits of training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our students can expect to see an increase in their flexibility, strength and cardiovascular health. These physical improvements lead to greater endurance and overall increased energy levels in daily life. In addition to the physical benefits of training at the Monster BJJ Self Defense Academy, our students also learn to apply the principles of modesty, courtesy, integrity, self- control, perseverance and indomitable spirit. Focus and self-discipline are improved. All of these aspects, combined with the ability to defend yourself, increase self-confidence. This makes Martial Arts training unique, and an ideal way to become a better person both mentally and physically.

He was also a varsity wrestler at Zane Trace High School for 3 out of 4 years.  He is an active competitor who has competed and placed at several local level tournaments including AGC, Grappling Industries, and the Arnold Classic from white belt through his current rank.  Tommy served in the U.S. Navy from 2007 to 2011, and was deployed twice in that time providing humanitarian aid to Haiti, and support to multiple operations in the Middle East. He was a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various letters of recognition and commendation during his service.  Tommy is currently a full time pharmacy technician at a local community pharmacy. He enjoys participating in events like the biannual drug take back day that gives back to the community and helps keep dangerous drugs off of the streets. Ron Zambarrano
Ron ZambarranoCoach

Ron moved from his home state of Hawaii to Ohio in 1994.  He began his martial arts training in 1998 in Jeet Kune Do that included both Muay Thai/Stick Fighting and Grappling (which was his least favorite aspect at that time).  On a trip back home to Hawaii in 2002, he met Relson Gracie in a bar, started up a conversation, and the rest was BJJ history! Relson referred him to his student, Jeff Hudson in Westerville, Ohio, and Ron began his training in BJJ.  Over the next four years he achieved the rank of Blue Belt. Life and raising kids caused a 10-year hiatus, but then he returned to BJJ in the summer of 2016. Ron began training with Monster in February 2018, and through his new found dedication to BJJ and many, many, long hours of suffering on the mat, has achieved the rank of Purple Belt.  Ron served in the US Army from 1984 – 1988, and then joined the Hawaii National Guard until 1994. Ron’s hobbies include a lifelong dedication to his love of surfing and more recently collecting antique swords and knives.
